“UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better.
It’s NOT.”
–Dr. Seuss
We all have heard about portion control and what it means for our necessity to staying not only fit, but also healthy.I know you may start thinking, “doesn’t that mean I have to measure my food?” Well not really, unless you want to.But if that’s the case then grab a little food measuring scale and get to it. But in my opinion the more you start to make small changes with your diet, the easier it will be to “eye ball” your portion sizes.
I first want to address that we live in a tough world right now where everything is made to look healthy and delicious in a way that is marketed so well to make you think you need this food and make you think its healthy by not telling you the unhealthy facts. We are treated like crap by the food industry and its just not enough to read up on this matter. It is up to you to make a difference and change. We as a country have lost touch with proper nutrition not because we don’t care but the food industry doesn’t care. It’s all about the dollar amount they bring in!The consequences for us are obsolete.
Now in my opinion, once we are in a controlled state of eating unhealthy, it makes it that much more difficult to see through the lies we are told by the FDAA & government. In turn we just do not care & start to get lazy due to the insane amount of bad ingredients & chemicals put into our food. We can’t truly allow the truth about proper ingredient control and portion sizes & real nutrition to sink in. I hope I am making sense here because this is important to me and should be to you as well. People are blinded by the industry who tells us lies, its all make believe and I’m just sick of it
.
Portion control is one of the leading causes for diabetes, and weight gain, heart attacks, you name it I can go on!The facts are if you want to lose weight or keep it off, the answer is in front of you when you are sitting down at the dinner table. Looks down and really adjust your thinking. I stick with 1/3 of my plate with quality protein, such as salmon, chicken, filet. The next larger potion 2/3 is veggies, Broccoli asparagus, and green beans. And finally maybe a complex carb/fat, I uses extra virgin olive oil and may have a small sweet potato. Now for people who have diabetes, you know about proper portion control for your blood sugar and food timing, especially with carbohydrates.I will do a follow up article on Diabetes and a diet so stay tuned for that! Yet again another epidemic, due to the food industry not caring about anything besides money. But I would like to discuss it and think it’s very important to start to change your diet. Take small steps don’t feel overwhelmed. One small thing a day is all you need to start then go from there. I promise you will feel a difference and be happier.
